Historic Print #45: Don Garlits Swamp Rat Dragster at Bakersfield (1975)

Don Garlits does a burnout in his Swamp Rat 22 at Bakersfield during the March Meet in ’75. Don went on to win the ’75 NHRA Championship that year in the car, setting the all time high speed of 250.69 mph and the lowest ET at 5.63 seconds at Ontario that stood for 7 years. The Rat was built by Don “Mad Dog” Cook, Tom Lemons, and Mr. Garlits, as a replacement for Swamp Rat 21. The car has never been out of Don’s possession and is on display at his Drag Racing Museum in Florida.
