Arizona “Cowboy”, cigar chomping Jimmy Bryan, is caught in practice before the 150 mile USAC Stock Car Race held at the Milwaukee Mile on July 15, 1956. Jim qualified the Bill Stroppe prepped and entered 1956 Mercury for the race and brought her home in fourth spot. Looks like California Hot Rodders had caught the Detroit manufacturers’ eye already. Next door to Stroppe in Long Beach was Ford’s West Coast race shop run by Peter DePaolo.
